The Research and Education Center for Applied Ethics and Applied Philosophy, Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences Hokkaido University, has research and education related to gender and sexuality as one of the pillars of its activities. We hold public symposiums and forums every year as venues for disseminating trends and exchanging opinions. The themes I have taken up so far include: work-life balance; cross-dressing and parody: self and cultural diversity;・Approaches from sociology and philosophy”, “Considering the introduction of same-sex partnership system”, “Citizenship and civic movements – Japanese circumstances surrounding LGBT”, “Culture and gender”, “How has LGBT been connected? and “International Labor Migration and Gender”. In 2020, we held a public symposium with the theme of "Occupation and Sex" with the aim of thinking about the relationship between the experience of the occupation and sexuality in Japan from various angles.
