In its fourth mid-term goals and plan for the period from 2022 to 2027, Hokkaido University has set the goal of "Hokkaido University contributing to solving global issues (achieving the SDGs)." The 2025 World Expo, held for 185 days from Sunday, April 13 to Monday, October 13, 2025, also aims to "contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" and "realize Japan's national strategy, Society 5.0." Faculty and staff from Hokkaido University also participated in this event in various ways.
