What led me to study: When I was an undergraduate, I studied physics at School of Science, and I thought I would eventually go into the semiconductor industry. The major change in direction came when I was deciding which laboratory to belong to. When I learned that I could join an atmospheric physics laboratory and conduct research on a ship, I took the plunge and jumped into that world. Throughout my master's degree, I conducted research by observing the ocean's atmosphere and investigating the number and concentration of components and particles. After completing my studies, I wanted to do research closer to the ocean, so I am currently conducting research on the ocean environment and the organic gases that occur there.

Professor Oki's research is introduced in ``Lecture by a Hokkaido University faculty member, ``The mystery of ocean iodine: Organic iodine gas.'' *Move to Yume Navi.
