The Semiconductor Frontier Education and Research Organization (IFERS) at Hokkaido University has formulated and published the "Hokkaido University Semiconductor Vision" and the "IFERS Mission," which outlines the path toward realizing that vision.

Hokkaido University Semiconductor Vision

The Hokkaido University Semiconductor Vision is formulated as a refined form based on two orthogonal coordinate axes: "Excellence (excellence in education and research)" and "Extension (ability to contribute to society)," which are also outlined in "HU VISION 2030," the university-wide vision of Hokkaido University.

Furthermore, in the semiconductor field, through three paths—"creating," "using," and "connecting"—we aim to "breathe life into semiconductors and pioneer the future," promoting education, research, and social collaboration in an integrated manner, and striving to realize a well-being society where semiconductors imbued with human "warmth" play an active role.

IFERS Mission

As the headquarters for the semiconductor field, IFERS will promote initiatives along three paths—"creating," "using," and "connecting"—to realize Hokkaido University's semiconductor vision.

  • Creating: The development of reliable human resources and technology.
  • Use: Developing use cases that enrich society
  • Connecting: A "node" that binds the inside together and opens up to the outside.
