Hokkaido University and Tohoku University signed a Collaboration Agreement on January 17th.

This agreement aims to contribute to the development of talented human resources, the enhancement of education, and the promotion of research by leveraging the respective characteristics and educational and research resources of both universities and collaborating and cooperating with each other. Initially, we plan to expand collaboration in education and research related to semiconductors, and we will work to develop human resources in the semiconductor field by starting to share e-learning.

1. Background and purpose of the agreement

Hokkaido University is based on the four University Philosophies that it has cultivated since its founding (Frontier Spirit, Global Perspectives, All-Round Education, and Practical Learning), and is committed to excellence in education and research and extension (ability to develop society). "HU VISION 2030" was formulated in July 2020, with the aim of creating a virtuous cycle and creating a major social impact by solving global issues.
On the other hand, Tohoku University became a candidate for certification as an International Excellence Research University in September 2023, and based on the university's three founding principles (research first, open doors, and respect for practical learning), their vision is to become a creative platform open to the world that creates knowledge, human resources, and social value.
Both universities share the same basic philosophy of emphasizing and respecting "practical learning," as evidenced by the fact that both universities' most recent vision calls for the creation of social value with a global perspective. It is also evident in
Thus, Hokkaido University and Tohoku University, which share University Philosophies and visions, will utilize their respective characteristics and educational and research resources to collaborate and cooperate with each other, develop talented human resources, enhance education, and conduct research. Hokkaido University and Tohoku University, which share the same basic pilosophy and vision, conclude a Cooperation Agreement in order to mutually collaborate and cooperate by utilizing their respective characteristics and educational and research resouces, to contribute to the development of talented human resources, and to enhance education and research promotion.
