The HaRP project is aimed at promoting inter-university exchange between Japan and Russia, with Hokkaido University and Moscow State University serving as the secretariat in Japan and Russia respectively. The goal of the project is to form a platform for the sharing of information and experience gained through exchanges between Japanese and Russian universities and to foster human resources through industry-government-academia collaboration.
The “SDGs: Environment, Resource Development and Multicultural Education” section has been established in the “Specialized Sections” which are aimed at fostering human resources to contribute to the implementation of the eight-point cooperation plan (Collaborative Plan for Industrial and Economic Innovation for an Environmentally Friendly Russia with a Higher Quality of Life) proposed by Japan at Japan-Russia Summit in May 2016, and efforts related to SDGs are also underway.
The Japan-Russia Student Union, an organization operated mainly by students to promote exchanges between Japan and Russia from student perspectives, has been established under the project. The Japan-Russia Student Forum that brings together Japanese and Russian students is held every 1.5-2 years.
