Professor Akiko Tamakoshi
Affiliation: Faculty of Medicine (School of Medicine, School of Medicine)
If you are interested, I recommend this subject! :Medicine, public health, epidemiology
What led me to study: I wanted to become a doctor, so I went to medical school. However, during my undergraduate training, I came into contact with epidemiology and thought that rather than treating patients, I could reduce the number of people who get sick. I have continued to work on cohort studies ever since I entered the Department of Preventive Medicine in graduate school and participated in the JACC Study. Cohort research allows you to collect information in collaboration with the local community, making it possible to conduct research on a scale that you would not be able to do on your own. I was excited when I discovered that something that had been considered common sense was different after analysis. We hope that the research we have conducted will lead to research for the next generation.
Professor Tamakoshi's research is introduced in ``Lecture by Hokkaido University Faculty Members: ``Researching Health-Related Factors in Human Subjects.'' *Move to Yume Navi.
