Associate Professor Mina Samukawa

Affiliation: Faculty of Health Sciences (Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine)

If you are interested, I recommend this subject! :Physical therapy, sports physical therapy

Inspiration for academics: As a child, I was devoted to competitive alpine skiing. So, after seeing players around me unable to participate in important tournaments due to injury, I thought, ``I want to support injured players. I want to prevent injuries.'' After graduating, I worked as a physical therapist at a hospital, but then went to study abroad at a university in Canada to study sports physical therapy. After returning to Japan, in order to put into practice the sports physical therapy that I had learned, I accompanied the ski team on an expedition and chose the path of research and education on the prevention of exercise-related injuries and the effects of warming up.

Professor Samukawa's research is introduced in ``Lecture by Hokkaido University Faculty Members: ``Let's Prevent Sports Injuries.'' *Move to Yume Navi.
