Our university applied for the ``FY2025 University/Technical College Functional Strengthening Support Project (Support for Functional Strengthening to Secure Highly Skilled Information Specialists)'', which was publicly solicited by the Japan University Reform and Academic Degrees Granting Organization, an independent administrative agency. It was adopted on Friday, March 21st.

 

What is the Support Project for Strengthening the Functions of Universities and Technical Colleges? The Support Project for Strengthening the Functions of Universities and Technical Colleges is a fund established by the government to develop highly specialized human resources who will drive growth fields such as digital and green fields, and to provide flexible and continuous support. This is to provide support to universities. Of this amount, our university will receive support for the expenses necessary to strengthen the system of universities that have faculties and graduate schools in the field of information science.
The project provides the following three types of support.

  1. "General framework" that targets efforts to strengthen the system by establishing or increasing the number of existing graduate schools, majors, courses, etc. related to the information system field.
  2. "Special framework" for efforts by universities with faculties and departments related to information systems to establish graduate schools.
  3. The ``High Level'' grant will be granted by adding a certain amount to universities that have plans that are expected to have extremely high effects in terms of scale and quality, such as collaboration with top overseas universities and promotion of initiatives that will greatly contribute to regional and national industrial development. frame"

Our university was selected for the ``high-level quota.''

In the future, our university will implement the following initiatives.

  1. Producing world-class talent through the construction of a teaching system in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Technology Sydney
  2. Active horizontal expansion of advanced digital education programs using ICT infrastructure that our university has independently built and has a proven track record.
  3. Providing educational programs in collaboration with the Hokkaido Digital Human Resources Development Promotion Council, etc.
