The NPO Border Area Studies Center (JCBS) will co-host the JCBS Evening Seminar on June 11th with the East Eurasian Research Project of the National Institutes for the Humanities and the Hokkaido University Slavic-Eurasian Research Center (EES-SRC).
The theme this time is "The other side of the rainbow: The current situation and challenges of LGBTQ in Japan."
Movements surrounding LGBT legislation are gaining momentum in Japan as well. However, it is questionable to what extent Japanese society is serious about confronting this problem, such as by weakening the wording to ``prohibit unfair discrimination.'' This time, Associate Professor Hyunjoo Naomi Chi of our university's Graduate School of Public Policy, who also serves as JCBS Auditor, will serve as the lecturer.
