The Faculty of Fisheries Science, Hokkaido University will hold “Practical Training on Behavioral Ecology of Coastal Animals: Even Hermit Crabs and Mussels Are Aware of Their Surroundings! (Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science) on August 5.

 

The “Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science” is a program designed to provide elementary, junior high, and high school students with the opportunity to see, hear, and touch the cutting-edge research conducted at universities and research institutes, and to experience the fun of science through the collaboration of university laboratories with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

 

This program is for high school students and is an expanded and enhanced version of the “Introduction to Coastal Animal Behavioral Ecology,” a high school students-only program scheduled to be held on August 7, 2023. In the morning, participants will go out to the seashore with university professors, undergraduate students, and graduate students to observe and collect a variety of animals, and in the afternoon, they will have a simple hands-on experiment using the animals they collected, and an introduction to the research conducted in the Animal Ecology Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries Science, Hokkaido University.
