Our university's Faculty of Fisheries Sciences has published a book called "Behavioral Ecology Practice of Coastal Animals: Hermit crabs and snails also pay attention to their surroundings!? ” (Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science) will be held on August 5th.

"Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science" is a collaboration between university laboratories and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science that allows elementary, junior high, and high school students to see first-hand the cutting-edge research being conducted at universities and research institutes. This program aims to help students experience the fun of science through listening and touching. This program is an experiential program for high school students, and is an expanded and enriched version of the high school student-only program "Introduction to the Behavioral Ecology of Coastal Animals" scheduled to be held on August 7, 2023. In the morning, we went to the coast with university teachers, university students, and graduate students to observe and collect various animals, called ``shore collecting.'' In the afternoon, we used the animals we had collected. We will conduct simple hands-on experiments and introduce the research conducted in the Animal Ecology Laboratory of the Department of Marine Biology and Fisheries, School of Fisheries Sciences Hokkaido University.
