Koichi TANIMURA, a 1st year student at Hokkaido University Public Policy School, presented his research paper “Proposals for Policies Concerning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Hokkaido” at the 4th SDGs Japan Policy Student Research Conference organized by the Chiba University Research Center on Public Affairs, and won the Excellent Presentation Award (Subcommittee Award).

 

Paper Content

First, we quantitatively measured the degree of achievement regarding the 17 SDG targets of Hokkaido, using municipal SDG indicators to identify strengths and weaknesses. Next, we conducted a questionnaire survey of Hokkaido officials and interviewed with leading local governments. Then, we made recommendations for measures that should be implemented by the Hokkaido Government.
