Our university is collaborating with Furano City, Hokkaido and Oracle Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ``Japan Oracle'') to develop smart city promotion measures for Furano City, with the aim of developing industry unique to Furano City and creating a livable city. As of October 27, 2022, we have concluded the "Agreement on Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration to Promote Smart City in Furano City, Hokkaido."

Our university, Furano City, and Oracle Japan have been working on the "Hokkaido University Doctoral Program DX Education Program: Smart City Promotion Support in Furano City, Hokkaido" project since 2021. In 2020, we are continuing to work on new issues for Furano City, and we have concluded an industry-academia-government collaboration agreement with the aim of future development through mutual cooperation, including continued implementation. The three parties will each use public and private data to develop their own visions for the future: “local areas in the Society 5.0 era,” “industry in the Society 5.0 era,” and “higher education in the Society 5.0 era.” While promoting collaborative efforts, we will further develop "Furano, a smart city that connects people, goods, and information" as part of regional revitalization, with the aim of creating a society and comfortable living environment where everyone can live safely and securely.
