Nitobe Inazo and the Sapporo Enyu Night School Association will hold the ``5th Inazo Summit 2022 ``Nitobe Inazo x SDGs Let's all create a new Hokkaido ~ Aiming for a recycling-oriented economic society'''' on November 3 ( It will be held on Thursday (Holiday).

Inazo Nitobe studied at Sapporo Agricultural College, the predecessor of our university, and then went to study abroad in Europe and the United States, where he studied agricultural management. After returning to Japan in 1899, he established the Enyu Night School in Sapporo for children who had the desire to learn but were unable to attend school during the day. She also focused on women's education and served as the first president of Tokyo Women's University.

It can be said that these efforts in education and efforts towards gender equality are closely related to the 17 goals of the SDGs. Therefore, this year, the 160th anniversary of Nitobe's birth, we will hold the ``5th Inazo Summit'' on November 3rd (Thursday, a public holiday) in Sapporo, the place with which Nitobe was born. This is an event where not only general participants but also high school and university students can think together about the future of Hokkaido.

In addition, at this event, our university is scheduled to give a lecture titled "Transmitting the philosophy of SDGs from Hokkaido to the world."
