Our university's Field Science Center for Northern Biosphere will hold an open educational program, "Thinking about SDGs at Hokkaido University's ranches and botanical gardens," from September 20th to 22nd.

Horses have been bred in the Hidaka region of Hokkaido since the late 19th century, using the climate with little snow in the winter and the plants that have grown there as resources. In this program, you will learn about the history of horse production in Hidaka, forest grazing that takes into account forest functions, and the conservation of endangered plants due to vegetation modification.
