To this day, Hokkaido University utilizes its vast fields of research, including its Sapporo and Hakodate campuses, farms, ranches, botanical gardens, and the world's largest university forest, a research forest both inside and outside Hokkaido, to promote sustainable development. We have aimed to contribute to the creation of society. In addition, in preparation for 2026, which will mark the 150th anniversary of our founding, we have set a near-future strategy entitled ``Hokkaido University that contributes to solving the world's problems,'' and we are conducting education and research that contributes to the realization of a sustainable society.

Based on the comprehensive partnership agreement with Hokkaido, we will be holding the "SDGs x Hokkaido Seminar 2022" (Sponsor: Hokkaido / Co-host: Hokkaido University).
At the seminar, a keynote lecture entitled "Rural Development and SDGs" will be given by Professor Kuniyuki Kobayashi, an associate professor at our university's Research Faculty of Agriculture.
