Hokkaido University Library and Children's Book Forest, in cooperation with the Archaeological Research Center, will be holding "You Too Can Be an Archaeologist Today!".
This event consists of two parts: (1) a lecture talk and (2) a tour of the excavation site.
In session ①, we will welcome Professor Katsunori Takase, the director of the center, as our lecturer. He will talk about the lives of people who lived in the Sapporo campus area in ancient times and why they chose to live in this location.
In section ②, we will guide you to a site where archaeological excavations are currently underway, and you will receive an easy-to-understand explanation of the excavation methods, what has been found, and what can be learned from the unearthed artifacts.
This is a rare opportunity to experience "the real thing," such as touching pottery and visiting actual sites, things you don't often get to do. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
