Hokkaido University, in collaboration with the Yomiuri Shimbun Hokkaido Branch, is offering "Science Lectures" for junior and senior high school students in order to share the fun and depth of science with a wider audience.
The theme of this event is "What Does It Mean to 'Be Born'? The Science of Life's Origin." Associate Professor Takeshi Mazume of the Department of Obstetrics and Perinatal Center at Hokkaido University Hospital and Dr. Ryo Tamashiro of the Department of Obstetrics at the same hospital will take the stage to explore pregnancy and childbirth from a scientific perspective. In addition to providing insights into the realities of the medical field, obstetricians and midwives will introduce the mechanisms of life's origin through a wealth of simulation experiences, including assisting with childbirth.
Experiencing the very site of life's origin, a journey everyone has taken, through a scientific lens will be a valuable opportunity not only for those interested in the world of medicine, but also for anyone looking to broaden their future career options.
Are you a middle or high school student who has ever wondered, "What is life?" and whose heart is moved by the mystery of life? Why not join us? We look forward to your application.
