The Recurrent Education Unit of the Educational Development Center, Organization for Educational Innovation, Hokkaido University, will hold a film screening and teach-in session on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

The film being screened, "Nitobe's Dream: Learning is Proof of Life," is a work themed around the "Enyu Night School," which was founded in 1894 by Inazo Nitobe, an educator and second-generation student of Sapporo Agricultural College, together with his wife Mary.

Following the screening, we will invite Keiichi Kudo, co-representative of the Association for Establishing Night Schools in Hokkaido, and Shoichi Fujita, Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University, to participate in a discussion (teach-in) with commentary on the theme of realizing a society where everyone has the right to learn and the role of universities in achieving that.
