The Hokkaido University Center for Advanced Tourism Studies, in collaboration with the NPO Walk Lab Sapporo, will host the Sapporo Round Walk 3rd Anniversary Event, "Opening Up the Future of Sapporo Tourism Through 'Walking Journeys'," on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The Sapporo Round Walk (SRW), a 140km walk around the city of Sapporo, opened in June 2023 as a result of collaborative research between industry and academia.
Taking into account the new Destination Management Organization (DMO) that has officially launched in Sapporo, we will explore how to position and cultivate "walking tours" as a tourism resource in Sapporo. Researchers, government officials, tourism businesses, and citizens will come together to consider the future of Sapporo tourism from multiple perspectives.
