The Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) has been held since 2016 as part of the Hokkaido University Near Future Strategy for the 150th Anniversary of its Founding (Hokkaido University Near Future Strategy 150).

Taking advantage of Hokkaido's cool summer climate, this program invites researchers with outstanding educational and research achievements and histories who are active at the forefront of the world to Hokkaido University, and they will carry out educational activities in collaboration with our faculty.In addition, classes in research fields that Hokkaido University boasts around the world, which were previously only available to Hokkaido University students, will be offered to participants from around the world.

We offer cutting-edge and engaging courses, including active learning classes that contribute to the development of global human resources and field training that takes advantage of the vast land of Hokkaido.
