The Hokkaido University Institute for the Advancement of Sustainability has partnered with the Hokkaido Marathon Organizing Committee to launch the Kitamite Garden SDGs Farm (hereinafter referred to as SDGs Farm) project in 2024. This activity has also been started at the Hokkaido Marathon 2025.
We used humus made from fallen leaves collected at Hokkaido University's Sapporo Campus to create an SDGs farm in the courtyard of Hokkaido University Museum. The farm is maintained and managed by Hokkaido University faculty and staff, the Hokkaido Marathon Secretariat, and the Hokkaido University Museum's volunteer group "Kitami Garden," which is mainly composed of students. This year, we will also open an SDGs farm on the North Campus along the course of the Hokkaido Marathon to expand our activities.
