The Hokkaido University Semiconductor Frontier Education and Research Organization, in collaboration with Institute for the Advancement of Graduate Education and the Graduate Faculty of Science, will be holding the "3rd Semiconductor Dreams - Let's Dance in a Circle in Hokkaido! Semiconductor manufacturers gather at Hokkaido University! Honest talk on what's going on at the workplace" event on July 25th.
Rapidus, Kioxia, Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Toshiba Device & Storage, Mitsubishi Electric, Renesas Electronics... Researchers and engineers from Japan's leading semiconductor manufacturers have gathered at Hokkaido University! The world is now moving forward with semiconductors at its core. As technological innovations such as AI, IoT, and autonomous driving advance, semiconductors are also called the "blood of industry" and their importance is increasing day by day. Semiconductors have become an entity that influences security, supply chains, and even national strategies. In April 2025, Rapidus began operating a 2nm process prototype line in Chitose City, Hokkaido, and Hokkaido made its full appearance on the world's semiconductor map. At this event, "The 3rd Semiconductor Dreams, Let's Dance in a Circle in Hokkaido!", six of Japan's leading semiconductor manufacturers will gather to talk about the world as seen from their respective workplaces. All speakers are from Hokkaido University. This is a valuable opportunity to hear the "real voices" of seniors who continue to challenge themselves on the front lines, using their university learning as fuel.
Hokkaido University will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026. The knowledge and talent that the university has nurtured to date are now shaping the future of semiconductors. Looking out over the world from Hokkaido, we consider the intersection of industry and society. We invite you to join this circle of dialogue.
