Professor Jun Fukuoka of Institute for Catalysis (Research and Development Division, former Director of the Catalysis Research Center) has been awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon in the spring of 2025.

Professor Fukuoka developed a solid catalytic reaction process that contributes to solving the key SDGs issues of "decarbonization of the chemical industry" and "reducing food waste," and realized the social implementation of the developed technology through industry-academia collaborative research with private companies. The developed technology is recognized as a pioneering research result worldwide, as evidenced by the various awards he has won both in Japan and overseas.
