The 10th Hokkaido University Inter-Faculty Symposium, with the aim of promoting interaction among young researchers at Hokkaido University and creating interdisciplinary research, will be held on September 6th at the Faculty of Medicine Frate Hall, the Faculty of Medicine Centennial Hall, and online.

This symposium marks the 10th time it has been held as part of Hokkaido University's functional strengthening project "to foster young researchers with a core of interdisciplinary research hubs that create new interdisciplinary fields."

This year's special lecture will be entitled "Society can be changed - The journey to the creation of blue LEDs and their contribution to the future" and will be given by Professor Hiroshi Amano (Nagoya University, 2014 Nobel Prize winner in Physics).

This symposium is also planned to attract high school students interested in science, and to distribute educational materials to high schools in Hokkaido. In order to promote interaction among the passionate young researchers of our university, this year too, the event will be planned and run by young researchers representing each department. In addition, oral and poster presenters will also be young researchers, and we plan to have many presentations by up-and-coming researchers, including ambitious tenure-track faculty members.
