At the Hokkaido New Academy for the first half of 2024, Faculty of Advanced Life Science and Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences will be in charge of humanities and science courses, respectively. We are now accepting new students, so please consider taking the course.
We look forward to your participation.

[Science course]: Between living things and matter: Asking again “What is life?”

We are working on new life science research fields by fusing basic sciences such as biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Our research includes research into the structure and function of substances that play important roles within cells, research to clarify the mechanism of evolution using mathematical models, and research into new materials that can be applied to the human body inspired by biological phenomena. A variety of research is being conducted. In the science course, we explore our fundamental question, ``What is life?'' through lectures by researchers involved in cutting-edge life science.

[Arts course]: War and peace from the perspective of humanities and social sciences

A quarter century has passed in the 21st century. However, in this world we live in, conflicts and wars never end. One of the reasons we study history and social conditions is to envision a world where no one's life is unreasonably taken away. Lectures in the humanities course cover the impact of conflicts and wars on local life, literature, thought, and research, as well as the activities of people who aspire to peace, and learn clues for developing a vision for the society we want.
