The University's Office of Ainu Relations and Initiatives and the Hokkaido University Co-op will hold the 2nd Ainu Food Fair "Ipean Roku!" from January 15th to 19th at each co-op cafeteria.

Ainu food culture has expanded over time. Our university's Office of Ainu Relations and Initiatives and the Hokkaido University Consumers' Co-op have organized a festival titled "Ipean Roku!" ("Let's eat!" in the Ainu Ishikari dialect) with the hope that Ainu culture will become a part of daily life on campus. The first Ainu food fair was held in July 2013, and was well attended. For the second event, we specified the ingredients to the extent possible, sought advice from experts inside and outside the university who are familiar with Ainu cuisine, and prepared the fair to be accessible to as many people as possible.
