  • Overview of research and development issues
Lignin is the main component that accounts for approximately 30% of wood, and is the most abundant natural aromatic polymer on earth. When considering the effective use of lignin, "industrial lignin", which is obtained on a large scale from the wastewater (black liquor) during the production of cellulose pulp from wood, is an important biomass resource. This research aims to systematically understand the relationship between the complex and diverse chemical structure and physical properties using unique analytical techniques specialized for industrial lignin, and to construct purposeful material design guidelines based on the unique characteristics of industrial lignin. Masu. We will create a high-performance, high-performance polymer network material from industrial lignin that has added value not found in existing competitive materials derived from petroleum, and create a technological platform for optimizing its properties depending on the application. .
