Hokkaido will co-sponsor the ``Digital Startup Seminar'' by Softbank President Miyagawa on November 24th, in collaboration with the University's Institute for the Advancement of Sustainability.
In Hokkaido, we have launched a team called ``Startup Hokkaido,'' which is an all-Hokkaido system of industry, academia, and government, including the Hokkaido Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, Sapporo City, universities throughout Hokkaido, and various support organizations. In addition to fostering and accelerating the start-up ecosystem on a Hokkaido-wide scale, in July this year we formulated the ``Promotion Direction for Accumulating Digital-related Industries,'' which aims to promote the development of a cool climate, vast land, and renewable energy. By making the most of Hondo's advantages, such as these, and promoting the accumulation of digital-related industries, we aim to revitalize the Hondo economy.
SoftBank Corp. plans to start operating its Tomakomai data center in fiscal 2026, and has announced plans to install servers and other equipment used to develop generative AI. The total project cost was over 65 billion yen, and there was a press release that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry would provide up to 30 billion yen in subsidies.
This time, we have invited President Miyagawa of SoftBank Corp. to give a lecture titled "New Trends in Technology - Startup Strategy in Hokkaido" at the Hokkaido University Conference Hall.
