Our university, together with Tohoku University, NEC Corporation, RTi-cast Co., Ltd., and LocationMind Co., Ltd., are working on tsunami hazards and their associated In September 2023, we began developing a ``Tsunami Disaster Digital Twin'' that predicts social impacts and presents optimal disaster responses in real time. Additionally, in promoting this project, we are seeking demonstration partners and coastal local governments and private businesses that are considering implementation.
Our Faculty of Science will conduct research and development of data assimilation technology based on offshore tsunami observations and implement it into a real-time tsunami flood damage prediction system.
Going forward, we aim to complete the "Tsunami Disaster Digital Twin" by 2027, build a prototype system by 2025, and proceed with demonstrations in Kochi Prefecture, Sendai City, and the Tokai region. Furthermore, using the tsunami disaster as a case study, we aim to expand to other disasters in the future.
