Professor Ichiro Kinoshita of Hokkaido University Hospital Cancer Genetics Department is running a crowdfunding campaign titled ``Treatment for pediatric cancer patients. Clinical trial for pediatric cancers with BRAF gene mutations'' until October 31st.
Cancer genomic medicine, which utilizes genetic information in cancer treatment, has progressed, and molecular-targeted drugs can now be expected to be effective in treating specific genetic abnormalities. However, for some patients with refractory childhood cancers, although panel tests are performed in hopes of finding new treatments, in reality no approved drugs have been found for use, and clinical trials and clinical research are not yet available. This is a situation in which treatment with molecular target drugs is difficult to achieve, as it is rarely used.
What Professor Ichiro Kinoshita and his colleagues aim to achieve is ``medical care that allows patients to receive safe and effective treatment early.''We need the support of people who sympathize with our project and agree to support pediatric cancer patients and their families. Even a small donation makes a big difference.
