Our university, JICA, and the Fisheries Research Headquarters of the Hokkaido National Research Organization will hold a tri-institutional joint symposium titled ``Aiming for new developments in the Hokkaido fisheries industry'' on August 4th.

Hokkaido's fisheries industry is facing challenges that require flexible responses, including changes in the types of fish that were originally caught, such as squid and capelin. At this symposium, experts raised and discussed issues faced by Hokkaido's fisheries industry and efforts to resolve them, and JICA discussed issues in the fisheries sector of developing countries and JICA's private sector partnership projects from the perspective of international cooperation. We will introduce the possibility of overseas expansion through collaboration. In addition, students who will be responsible for the future of the fishing industry will enthusiastically introduce innovative business ideas in a pitch format, breathing new life into Hokkaido's fishing industry.
