The public symposium ``One Health: Issues related to wild animals and veterinary medicine'' will be held on July 29th, sponsored by the Science Council of Japan and co-sponsored by our university's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The population and habitat areas of Japan's wild animals (deer, wild boars, etc.) have rapidly expanded over the past 30 years, and reports of sightings of bears, monkeys, etc. that live in the remote mountains in urban areas are also increasing. Although the amount of crop damage has been on the decline in recent years, it still reaches 15.5 billion yen annually, and collisions with cars and trains continue to occur.

This symposium was planned to learn about the current situation, analyze future issues from the perspectives of veterinary medicine and food safety, and give back to society.
