The Faculty of Public Policy, Hokkaido University and the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Sapporo will hold the “Japan-Korea Future Forum: Declining birthrate and aging population and Welfare Policies in Japan and Korea in the Post-Corona Era: Current Situation and Issues” on July 8, 2023.

The declining birthrate and aging population have created a number of social issues, such as population decline, depopulation, labor shortage, and securing finances for social expenditures. One of the first objectives of this forum is to share the current situation and issues. In addition, this forum will share the various social issues faced by the elderly in Japan and Korea as a result of the declining birthrate and aging population, and discuss and explore together what kind of cooperation in the field of social issues is possible between Japan and Korea, which face common issues in the same period of time.
