The main building Hokkaido University Library will be holding a panel and book exhibition as part of the "History of Hokkaido University Library" exhibition to commemorate the 150th anniversary of its founding.

This exhibition commemorates the 150th anniversary of our university's founding and explores the history of the library, which has always been intertwined with the university throughout those 150 years, through various anecdotes.
The panel exhibition uses numerous photographs to showcase the changes in the building from the "bookroom" at the time of the school's founding to the present day, the people involved with the library such as Inazo Nitobe and Kiyoshi Kanzai, and the recent development of the digital collection.

The library also displays materials that tell the history of the library, as well as a replica of the Yaenkoro Ainu documents, which are designated as an important national cultural property.

The library exhibition features books on the history of our university and library, as well as works by the library director, staff, and other related individuals. These books are available for browsing and borrowing, so please take this opportunity to take a look.
