Hokkaido University has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Advanced Research Infrastructure Innovation Project (EPOCH)." Hokkaido University will serve as the lead institution and, in collaboration with other universities, research institutions, and companies, including the Hokkaido National University Organization, Muroran Institute of Technology, Tokai University, and the National Institute of Informatics (NII), will promote the "Hokkaido University Core Facility Network Project."
This project will comprehensively promote the shared use of research facilities, technical support by highly specialized personnel, and the development of a research data infrastructure. It will also build a research infrastructure network connecting research facilities, technical personnel, and research data within Hokkaido, thereby strengthening the research infrastructure that supports research and development and industrial creation. The project will be implemented in stages over 10 years, and plans include the construction of a new "Advanced NMR Platform Building (tentative name)" which will be a shared base for a 1.3GHz ultra-high magnetic field NMR spectrometer, the world's highest magnetic field, and the renovation of the Drug Discovery Life Innovation Building, among other facility improvements aimed at upgrading the research infrastructure.
With the university-wide organization "Technology Collaboration Headquarters (ITeCH)" at its core, we aim to create an environment where researchers can concentrate on their core research activities, while also forming a research infrastructure network that extends from Hokkaido to the entire country, and striving to realize a world-class research infrastructure.
