The Ainu and Indigenous Studies Center at Hokkaido University will hold a symposium on Saturday, October 3rd, titled "Learning and Thinking from the 'Portraits of Ainu Chiefs': The Mystery and Politics of Their Export to Overseas."

The Portraits of the Ainu Chiefs [1790] is a representative work of Kakizaki Hakyo [1764-1826] and one of the most widely known Ainu paintings.
