The Hokkaido University Institute for the Advancement of Sustainability and Field Science Center for Northern Biosphere, in collaboration with the Sapporo City Environmental Bureau, will offer a graduate-level common course, "Sapporo Zero Carbon Special Topics," from August 26th (Wed) to 28th (Fri). This course is part of the EXEX Doctoral Fellowship's "Co-creation Education Program" (1.0 point awarded).
Sapporo City aims to become a "zero-carbon city" by 2050, achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within the city. To achieve this, concrete strategies and proposals are needed to promote decarbonization actions by citizens and businesses.
In this course, we will first learn about Sapporo City's decarbonization efforts and understand the challenges faced by various stakeholders. Then, graduate students with diverse expertise will collaborate to generate ideas for a decarbonized society from a new perspective and compile them into concrete proposals. Sapporo City officials and employees of energy suppliers will also participate as mentors in the group work, providing feedback from a field perspective. Feasible proposals may be reflected in the city's initiatives or given the opportunity to be put into practice. Why not join us for a learning and practical experience that will make Sapporo's future better?
