The Open Education Center Institute for the Advancement of Graduate Education will be holding "Learning Assessment Cafe 2026 - A Workshop Connecting Dialogue and Reflection to Practice -" on Tuesday, March 17th.

In recent years, a variety of learning assessment methods have become widespread, including rubrics, peer assessment, and self-assessment. However, many people feel anxious or uncertain about how to incorporate these methods into their own lessons or whether it will increase their assessment burden. Furthermore, even after learning about new approaches through training, a significant number of people report that they were unable to successfully implement them in their actual lessons or that they struggled because they didn't have anyone nearby to consult with.

In this workshop, participants will think about assessment methods that fit the context of each lesson through dialogue and reflection. Using worksheets and cards, participants will reflect on the assessments they have implemented in their classes and consider case studies to organize ideas for learning assessments that can be easily implemented.

Furthermore, following the in-person sessions, we offer a semester-long (2026 academic year) review support program for those who wish to participate. We value not only "being taught," but also continuously engaging with evaluation in a manageable way while thinking together with peers.
No prior knowledge of learning assessment is required. Anyone who teaches at an educational institution is welcome to participate.

Date and Time: Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 15:00 - 18:00
