Sapporo Beer and Hokkaido University will both celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2026.
As both organizations reach their milestone years, they will be holding a project called "Weaving the Future from the Northern Lands," which aims to create a well-being future and pass on the "sash of history" to the future.
Proposals are divided into two themes, but you can submit to either or both themes.
▽ Contest theme
Theme 1: Thinking about sustainable and alcoholic beverage ideas for a well-being future for Hokkaido
■ "Alcohol" is an important entity that has connected people and nurtured culture. At the same time, it is an industry that has a major impact on the environment and society, from the agriculture of raw materials and production to distribution and consumption, and we believe it is extremely important to consider the sustainability of this industry from various angles. Therefore, Hokkaido University and Sapporo Breweries Ltd. have collaborated to create an opportunity for students to think about the intersection of "sustainability" and "alcohol" from their perspective.
Theme 2: Consider an Odori Beer Garden that incorporates sustainable elements that people in their 20s can enjoy more than ever before.
Theme 1 asks participants to consider the "ideal form of society" in the future, even a few years or even a decade from now. Meanwhile, Theme 2 asks participants to think of the "sustainability" of alcohol as something that concerns them more personally, and to come up with ideas for the near future about "what can be achieved now." Specifically, we are looking for ideas for the Sapporo Odori Beer Garden, a summer tradition in Sapporo in 2026, and in particular for the "THE Sapporo Beer Garden" venue (Odori Nishi 8-chome).
