The Hokkaido University Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education 's Department of International Education and Research will hold a training event titled "Learners with Diverse Backgrounds and Educational Assessment" on Friday, February 27th.

In recent years, universities have been required to accommodate the diverse backgrounds of students, such as the increase in international students and students who require reasonable accommodation. Many faculty members who actually teach classes express concern about how much "accommodation" they should show to students who are not good at collaborative learning, regardless of whether they require reasonable accommodation, and about how to conduct fair educational evaluations.

As an introduction to this training program, Tei and Aoki (Hokkaido University, Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education Department of International Education and Research) will introduce some of the results of their recent collaborative research, and consider the considerations and ingenuity that teachers should take into account when dealing with students who are not good at collaborative activities, and the impact this has on classroom activities as a whole.

Afterwards, Professor Kimura Yutaka, who specializes in educational methods, will talk about the basics of educational evaluation and methods, such as what the purpose of educational evaluation is and how to think about selecting and rejecting educational methods.
