Hokkaido University's Center for Advanced Tourism Studies will hold the 6th Industry-Academia Collaboration Content Tourism event, "Do Yokai Move Local Communities? - From Kyoto to the World, 20 Years of Yokai, the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons, and Town Revitalization Practices," on February 27th.
For this study group, we will be inviting Mr. Shunya Kono, CEO of Hyakuyoubako Co., Ltd., which has been using the local cultural resource of yokai to create creative works, hold events, and engage in tourism activities for around 20 years, based in the "Yokai Street" of Kyoto's Taishogun Shopping Arcade.
In this lecture,
How have yokai been treated as "regional cultural resources"?
- Why has the practice that began as research continued uninterrupted?
・We will talk about the actual process of practical implementation, including trial and error and conflicts, rather than just success stories, focusing on how industry-academia collaboration and student-led activities have been smoothly established.
