Faculty of Medicine at Hokkaido University will hold the 192nd Hokkaido University Pediatrics Special Symposium, "Nursing for Children Receiving Heart Transplants - Building a Hospital-Wide Team to Protect Children's Lives," on February 9th.

Most people have no experience in "nursing children undergoing heart transplants," and many feel confused. How should pre- and post-operative care be provided? What is important for long-term post-operative support? And how should we best interact with the child and their family? A multidisciplinary team is highly effective in supporting children undergoing transplants and their families.

On the day, we will talk about improving the hospital's overall culture to improve the treatment environment for children, and will also include examples of building multi-disciplinary teams.
