The Hokkaido University Integrated URA Headquarters will be co-hosting a science cafe, "Horses and People Connected by Heart," on February 7th, in collaboration with the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine's Next Generation Agricultural and Livestock Technology Demonstration Center.

The idiom "the horse is in sync" originally referred to the state in which the rhythm and movements of the horse and rider are perfectly synchronized. In the past, in Japan, horses were indispensable companions for travel, war, and agricultural work. How did horses and humans build and maintain this "cooperative relationship"?

This Science Cafe will feature Professor Yasuo Minamibo, who supports horse breeding and health management, and Professor Ayaka Takimoto, who researches horse rearing and communication.

Through this cross-talk between the two researchers, who share the common research interests of "the scene of life" and "the mechanism of bonds" and horses, but have different perspectives, we will get closer to the true nature of the mysterious connection between horses and humans.
