On December 2, 2025, Hokkaido University and HBA Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with the aim of cultivating "social entrepreneurs" who can proactively identify and solve local and societal issues within Hokkaido. This agreement will combine Hokkaido University's educational and research resources with HBA's information technology and business operation know-how, creating opportunities for students and working adults who will lead the next generation to take on the challenge of solving problems through practical, community-based learning.
Based on the agreement, Hokkaido University and HBA will collaborate and cooperate in the following areas:
- Co-design and implementation of practical learning opportunities
- Joint promotion of initiatives that contribute to solving social issues
- Developing a framework for the appropriate use of data and cutting-edge technology
- Promoting personnel exchanges and mutual learning
- Joint research, commissioned research, and regional expansion of results
- Other matters that are deemed necessary and agreed upon in order to achieve the objectives of this Agreement
Through these efforts, we will develop the ability of students and local people to identify problems and create solutions on their own, and contribute to creating a sustainable society in Hokkaido.
