The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) selects the recipient of the JSPS Prize, based on the selection by the JSPS Prize Committee, who is expected to be a future leader in academic research in Japan. Associate Professor Miyazono Kengo of the Graduate Faculty of Humanities and Human Sciences, Hokkaido University, has been awarded the prize.

 

The JSPS Prize aims to raise the level of academic research in Japan to a world-leading level by identifying and honoring young researchers with creativity and outstanding research ability at an early stage, thereby motivating them to pursue their research and supporting the development of their research. The winners were selected through rigorous judging by a committee made up of Japan's top academic researchers representing each field.

    Philosophical and interdisciplinary research on rationality and irrationality

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Japan Academy (7-32 Ueno Park, Taito-ku, Tokyo).
