On Monday, November 10th, a comprehensive partnership agreement was signed between the Nakagawa Research Forest (Otoineppu Village, Nakagawa District, Hokkaido) Field Science Center for Northern Biosphere 's Forestry Station North Management Department and Otoineppu Village. The signing ceremony was attended by Otoineppu Village Mayor Takayuki Endo, Otoineppu Forest Manager Mutsumi Nomura, and other relevant officials.

Otoineppu Village is a small village with a population of about 600. Up until now, our forest has hosted nature experience programs for Otoineppu Elementary and Junior High School and Hokkaido Otoineppu High School of Arts and Crafts, as well as nature observation events for the general public. Going beyond these educational activities, we have decided to enter into a comprehensive partnership agreement with the aim of deepening cooperative ties in the fields of academics, culture, and regional development, and contributing to the development and enrichment of both.

It is expected that the academic research and sustainable forest management being carried out in our forest will be further shared with the local community and villagers, and that by utilizing local activities in education, we will be able to contribute to the development of both.
