Slavic-Eurasian Research Center at Hokkaido University, which conducts comprehensive research focusing on the Slavic Eurasian region (former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe), will hold a symposium entitled "Russian Composers and Their Homelands: Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Shostakovich - with Professor Simon Morrison" on January 7th.
As the war with Ukraine continues and Russian history and culture are being reexamined, we will reconsider the relationship between Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich, who lived in the 20th century, and their "homelands," together with Professor Simon Morrison of Princeton University's School of Music.
