Hokkaido University Museum will hold its 9th Saturday Public Seminar of 2025, "Weaving the Memories of Museum Experiences into the Future: An Approach from the Perspective of Life Stories," on December 13th.

The ninth lecture will feature Professor Makiko Yuasa Hokkaido University Museum. What are your most memorable experiences from museums you've visited? Whether it's an art museum, science museum, history museum, ethnology museum, botanical garden, zoo, or aquarium? Magnificent buildings, precious artworks and specimens, conversations with curators and companions, workshops and seminars you attended, or museum merchandise you purchased... Do these memories carry meaning for the rest of your life, and do they continue to shape your relationship with museums? Professor Yuasa, the first and ongoing researcher in Japan to systematically explore long-term memories of museum experiences by positioning them in life stories, will introduce case studies from her research and explain the role of museums in society through this interdisciplinary research.
