The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Hokkaido University, will be holding a science experiment workshop entitled "Let's repair damaged information - the mathematics of coding theory" on December 13th, co-hosted by the KDDI Foundation and the Hokkaido University Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Inclusion Promotion Headquarters, and supported by the Hokkaido Branch of KDDI Corporation.
Various communication technologies are used in our modern lives, from exchanging messages to making QR code payments. While some data may be altered during the communication process due to noise, these technologies are designed to detect errors and restore the original data. At this event, participants will learn about the mathematical mechanisms of error-correcting codes through a number guessing game using the binary system. This event is limited to 15 people.
